This is a private event for one of two “Climate Café” workshops that The Resilient Activist designed just for American Lung Association Advocacy and Public Policy staff interested in learning more about climate distress and tools to cope with it, and seeking supportive gatherings to nurture and enhance the emotional well-being of those who are experiencing troubling emotions of climate change.
The Resilient Activist supports those experiencing the emotional ramifications of climate change by centering personal wellness as essential to advocacy. Their climate cafés are judgment-free spaces that allow people to share their emotional experiences due to the climate crisis, creating a culture of compassion and self-care.
Even when people find enough space to engage in advocacy, its emotional urgency can lead to burnout and disempowerment. These Climate Cafes offer an opportunity to join others as they express their fears, learn coping skills, be inspired to re-imagine their environmental activism in healthy and sustainable ways, and build a community of others who are experiencing many of the same concerns.
